The Republic of Congo is advancing its offshore gas plans with two marine operations underway, marking progress in its liquefied natural gas (LNG) development.

PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH) will tow the new Nguya FLNG facility from Lvsi, Qidong, in China to Congolese waters for Wison New Energies. The unit, part of Phase 2 of Eni’s Congo LNG Project, will operate 50 kilometres offshore of Pointe-Noire in 33 metres of water.

Nguya FLNG has a capacity of 2.4 million tonnes per year and is expected to triple Congo’s LNG production when it comes online in late 2025.

POSH will use three ocean-going tugs for the long journey around the Cape of Good Hope and a fourth tug to maintain position during connection to the submerged swivel yoke (SSY) mooring system. Engineering firm Longitude will manage marine tasks, including assembling the tether chain, connecting flexible risers, and providing offshore support.

Eric Ng, Director of Offshore Projects at POSH, said, “We are proud to assist Wison and the Republic of Congo in deploying this FLNG facility.
