Nigeria’s downstream sector is facing major disruption after Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced on Sunday, June 15, that it will begin direct, free distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel nationwide.

Starting August 15, 2025, the refinery will roll out the operation using 4,000 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to supply fuel directly to petrol stations, manufacturers, aviation companies, telecom firms, and other large-scale users.

By cutting out traditional depots and middlemen, Dangote Refinery aims to transform the country’s fuel distribution system.

In addition to free distribution, the refinery is offering a credit facility to high-volume customers.

Those who purchase 500,000 litres or more will qualify for an extra 500,000 litres on a two-week credit, backed by a bank guarantee.

This incentive is designed to reduce operating costs for major fuel consumers like manufacturers and telecom operators.
