DP World has started deploying a Port Community System (PCS) in Kenya to enhance cargo tracking and speed up clearance at the Port of Mombasa.
The system was created with EMEA Port Logistics and rolled out with the support of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and the Kenyan government.
While DP World does not directly manage the Port of Mombasa, the PCS will be available to all users, including importers, exporters, freight forwarders, transporters, and customs agents. It provides digital tools for tracking cargo, booking gates, managing billing, and receiving real-time updates.
Mombasa Port is a key trade hub for over a dozen landlocked nations in East and Central Africa. The new system could cut cargo clearance times by about 30%, supporting over 3,000 users each year and improving efficiency across port operations.
For KPA, the PCS improves oversight of cargo flows, optimizes gate operations, and helps reduce dwell time. The initiative supports Kenya’s Vision 2030 goal of upgrading trade infrastructure and expanding digital services.
The project also builds on DP World’s previous partnership with the Kenyan government through the eCitizen platform, which advances the digitalisation of customs and public services.
