The Lekki Deep Seaport processed 287,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers in the first half of 2025 (Q1 & Q2), surpassing 57% of its annual target of 500,000 TEUs.

At a recent media parley in Lagos, the port’s Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Mr Daniel Odibe, announced the figures and highlighted the steady year-on-year growth in cargo volumes.

Odibe said the port handled 58,000 TEUs in 2023, grew to 287,000 TEUs in 2024, and has already processed the same volume in the first two quarters of 2025 alone.

He stated that the port has started transshipment to neighbouring ports such as Togo and Ghana and plans to begin transshipment to Onne this year while working towards expanding services to other West African ports.

The facility handles 10–12 vessels each month and continues to record significant growth in international transshipment activities, including services to landlocked countries.

Wang Qiang, the Managing Director/CEO of Lekki Deep Seaport, reaffirmed the port’s commitment to global standards, emphasising that its deep-water capacity, advanced technology, and operational efficiency are driving change in Africa’s maritime trade landscape.
