After an international tender process, the National Port Authority of Liberia awarded Marsa Maroc a management contract. Through its subsidiary, Marsa Maroc International Logistics, the company will rehabilitate facilities, supply port equipment, and use its bulk handling expertise to run two jetties at the port of Monrovia. Operations will begin gradually in the first half of 2026.

This contract marks the start of a broader partnership. In the next phase, the parties plan to conclude a concession agreement to develop and operate a new multipurpose terminal at Monrovia. As Liberia’s main deep-water port, Monrovia handles most of the country’s imports and exports and serves as the primary maritime gateway for the national economy.

The project will improve operational performance at the port of Monrovia and strengthen Liberia’s competitiveness in port and logistics services. It will also contribute directly to the country’s economic growth.

Marsa Maroc and the National Port Authority of Liberia share a long-term vision for the partnership. Marsa Maroc will bring its operational experience, while the port authority will provide strategic direction to modernise and revitalise Liberia’s port infrastructure.

The National Port Authority of Liberia manages, administers, and develops all ports in the country. Through this mandate, it facilitates trade, supports national economic growth, and promotes Liberia’s integration into regional and international maritime networks.

Marsa Maroc operates 34 terminals across 20 ports in Africa and handles more than 60 million tonnes of cargo each year. The company continues to position itself as a leading port operator capable of delivering large projects with global partners while advancing its “Marsa 2030” strategy.
