Global shipping company NORDEN has expanded its presence in Africa by purchasing Taylor Maritime’s Southern African cargo operations, formerly run under the IVS name.

The acquisition brings the Durban parcelling team into NORDEN, and Brandon Paul’s team will continue supporting customers moving parcel trades from South Africa, keeping their specialised experience in bulk and project cargo.

NORDEN CEO Jan Rindbo said the company is pleased to welcome the team and plans to grow its services and customer base in Southern Africa as a global provider of ocean transport for bulk and project cargo of all types.

He noted that with a fleet of more than 400 vessels, NORDEN aims to further develop its work in the region and offer customers more flexible freight options.

This is NORDEN’s third acquisition in three years, following the additions of Thorco Projects in 2023 and Norlat Shipping in 2024, which now sit within the Freight Services and Trading unit.

Rindbo said the move strengthens NORDEN’s parcelling strategy and helps the company focus more on its customers.

He added that project cargo requires more specialised skills than NORDEN’s traditional operations, with a need for tailored solutions, and the company looks forward to offering these services to more customers worldwide.
