President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Industry and Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, the President’s Financial Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly, Major General Magdy Anwar of the National Service Projects Organization, and Major General Khaled Ahmed Abdullah of the Financial Affairs Authority.
According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President El-Sisi reviewed updates on the construction, modernization, operation, and management of ports across the country. The briefing included master plans for Gargoub Seaport and its Special Economic Zone, Abu Qir Seaport, and a liquid bulk terminal for petroleum products at East Port Said. It also covered the management of Al Galala Marina and the development of Berenice Seaport’s superstructure. Officials outlined expected economic returns and job creation. The President directed them to continue expanding Egypt’s port network, integrate it with recent infrastructure upgrades, and ensure maximum national benefit.
The meeting also assessed progress in transportation, with a focus on the railway system. Updates highlighted the East-West Nile Monorail, related passenger stations, integration with the East Cairo BRT, and road efficiency upgrades along its route. Officials confirmed that the East Nile Monorail is scheduled to open in November 2025.
Discussions also covered the high-speed electric train connecting Sokhna, Alexandria, El Alamein, and Marsa Matrouh, which is due to open in June 2026. Progress on the Salam City–10th of Ramadan–New Administrative Capital line was reviewed, with completion expected in March 2026. President El-Sisi underlined the importance of meeting these deadlines, stressing that the projects are key pillars of urban, industrial, and tourism development.
Officials presented opportunities to expand industrial zones as part of the state’s plan to strengthen national industry. The proposals included establishing new factories to satisfy domestic demand, build up local supply chains, and drive industrial localization.
The Minister of Industry and Transport underscored government priorities in the iron, steel, and cement industries. He shared updates on Suez Steel Company and El-Areesh Cement, emphasizing efforts to attract investment and build strategic partnerships that would expand local and joint manufacturing. These efforts aim to reduce imports, grow production for both domestic use and exports, and create jobs.
President El-Sisi stressed the importance of sticking to project schedules, improving road maintenance, and accelerating the creation of logistics hubs that connect industrial areas to seaports. He called for attracting leading global maritime operators to support Egypt’s industrial strategy and promote comprehensive economic growth.
