President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, welcomed IMO Secretary-General H.E. Arsenio Dominguez to Lagos for an official audience.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to growing Nigeria’s maritime sector as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. He highlighted that signing the National Maritime Policy represents a strategic move to embed global best practices and boost the competitiveness of the industry.

The IMO Secretary-General praised the Nigerian government for its outstanding achievements in maritime safety and security, especially in protecting the Gulf of Guinea, and assured continued collaboration to sustain these successes.

The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, guided the IMO Secretary-General and other industry leaders through the engagement.

Participants included PS FMMBE Olufemi Oloruntola, NIMASA Director-General Dr. Dayo Mobereola, NPA MD Dr. Abubaker Dansoho, and NIWA MD Bola Oyebamiji.
