Shipping Solutions plans to launch the China-Africa Link in late November 2026. The service will connect major Chinese ports with key markets in East and Southern Africa through the following port rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo and Nansha in China; Port Klang and Westport in Malaysia; Dar es Salaam in Tanzania; Maputo in Mozambique; Singapore; and back to Shanghai. This route will create additional shipping connections between China’s major export ports and African markets, supporting cargo movement along established and emerging trade routes.
The China Africa Link also reflects DP World Marine Services’ Connected Trade Corridors approach, which links shipping services with ports and inland transport. By adding more connections to important African ports, the service will give businesses more route options, support increasing trade volumes and improve links between African and international markets.
DP World said the new service responds to changing global trade patterns and customers’ need for reliable shipping connections and greater flexibility. The company noted that connecting China and Africa through the new service will create more opportunities for businesses and help cargo move through more flexible shipping networks.
The service will carry different types of cargo, including machinery, electronics, construction materials and automotive components from China. It will also support African exports such as agricultural products, minerals and other commodities.
The new shipping service also complements DP World’s investments in African port infrastructure. In Mozambique, the company is investing $165 million to expand the Maputo container terminal and more than double its handling capacity. In Tanzania, DP World has committed over $500 million to modernising the Port of Dar es Salaam. These investments, alongside the China Africa Link, will connect port development with shipping services and support growing trade between Africa and other markets.
