The Gambia Navy continued to strengthen its role in regional maritime security through its participation in Obangame Express 2026 (OE26), a multinational naval exercise held across the Gulf of Guinea.

The annual exercise, organized by United States Africa Command and the United States Sixth Fleet, brought together naval forces from West and Central Africa along with international partners. The exercise focused on improving maritime security operations under the Yaoundé Code of Conduct and supporting cooperation against shared maritime threats.

During the exercise, personnel from The Gambia Navy took part in several specialized training and coordination activities at different locations. In Dakar, sailors completed intensive Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) training to improve their boarding procedures, interdiction techniques, and maritime law enforcement skills.
