The construction of the new cold storage facility at the East Mole port platform has reached an important stage, with the structural works now completed. The project includes 24 reefer jetties with space for 1,680 reefer connections. This will increase Congo Terminal’s total reefer capacity from 1,869 to 3,549 connections.

The new facility will help Congo Terminal meet the growing demand for frozen products in the region. The company is investing in the infrastructure needed to handle higher volumes of refrigerated containers and support the movement of frozen and perishable goods over the long term.

“This increase in capacity responds directly to the changing needs of the sub-region. The new facility will allow Congo Terminal to handle growing volumes of frozen and perishable goods while providing infrastructure that supports the cold chain,” said Emmanuel Addo, Operations Director at Congo Terminal.

Managing the cold chain remains a key concern for logistics and agri-food companies. The new facility will help maintain the required temperatures from the time goods arrive until they leave the terminal, supporting the quality and food safety standards required for frozen and perishable products.
